How to make Strawberry Jam Recipe
Ingredients
Make 4 × 1 lb/450 G/1 LB jars
5 ½ cups/ 1 kg/2 lb strawberries, hulled
1 lemon, juice
4 cups/1 kg/2 lb sugar
Preparation
1. Put the strawberry in a large bowl or casserole with the lemon juice and cook for 5 minutes on full power. Mash the strawberries slightly with a wooden spoon.
2. Add the sugar and stir well. Cook for 3 minutes on full power and stir again. Cook on full for a further 3 minutes and stir to check the sugar is dissolved. If necessary, cook for a further 2 minutes on full power.
3. Cook for another 6 minutes on full power, stir round thoroughly and cook for a further 6 minutes on full power.
4. Test on a cold plate; the jam should wrinkle after 1 minute. If not, cook for another 2 minutes on full power.
5. Pour or ladle into sterilize jars, seal and label.
Variation in strawberry jam
Cook as for strawberry jam but once the sugar has dissolved, cook for a further 15 minutes on full power.
